Hi All,

I'm the new Minister of Outreach at First Church Somerville, an open and affirming congregation.

I want to introduce myself and want to let y'all know about events for Holy Week. You may have been by our table in front of the church at 89 College Ave., Tuesday afternoon, or just a few minutes ago and gotten an egg. Inside the egg is Fair Trade Chocolate and our Holy Week schedule. If you missed out, you can get yours next Tuesday, 5-7.

If you've been thinking about going to services for the High Holy Days of Christianity, if you've been wishing you could go, but also want to remain cool, hip, don't want to check your brain at the door, we might be the place for you.

Here's the schedule:
  • Daily Morning Prayer in the Chapel at First Church Somerville, 3/17-3/21, 7-8 AM.
  • Sunday, 3/16, Interfaith Donkey Walk with drums and trombone from Powder House Park to Davis Sq., 9-10 AM.
  • Sunday, 3/16, Palm Sunday Service, including Cantata, Sunday, at First Church Somerville, 10-11 AM.
  • Maundy Thursday Service, 3/20, "Our Tender Bodies" including Foot Washing and Communion, First Church Somerville, Light Supper at 6:30 PM, Service at 7 PM.
  • Good Friday, 3/21, "Alone With God", communion and healing prayer available throughout the day at First Church Somerville, 7 AM-9 PM.
  • Sunday, 3/23, Interfaith Easter Sunrise Service, 6AM in Powderhouse Park.
  • Sunday, 3/23, Easter, Resurrection Worship with Brass, First Church Somerville, 10-11AM.
If church really isn't your thing, you can still have some Fair Trade Chocolate.

Peace,
Laura Ruth Jarrett
